Samir is the Founder and Managing partner of HIP, an early-stage healthcare only
focused venture capital fund that uses a multidisciplinary collaborative ecosystem
model to invest and advise startups in digital health, health IT, MedTech and life
sciences. In parallel, Samir oversees BAHA, a boutique healthcare advisory firm. He
serves as a board member or advisor for over 5 health tech companies, and he
gives his time to many innovation and healthcare organizations such as, ATA
(American Telemedicine Association), UCSF Health Innovation Judge, HITLAB
(Women’s Health Tech), and TechStars Melinda Gates Foundation and Pivotal
Ventures Longevity Accelerator, and Cedars Sinai Accelerator.
Prior to his move into the investment space with HIP, Samir spent 16 years across the healthcare industry, which
included 12 years as a healthcare entrepreneur across 4 startups which included 3 major milestones and 4 years as a
management consultant with the Advisory Board Company (now part of Optum – United Healthcare) working with
provider organizations in implementing evidence based best practices to optimize revenue, operations, quality and
through put.
He spends his time obsessing over how to help entrepreneurs achieve their dreams while making a sustainable impact
in the health and wellness spaces.
